PrivateNet provides a number of important benefits to server clusters:

• Allows separation of traffic for security reasons. In certain situations, you may want your servers to exchange information with each other, but not be accessible or exposed to any other shared connections, i.e. the Internet. For example, an e-commerce site needs the front-end e-commerce application to access the database containing product information and customer data, but would not want the server holding this information to be connected to the Internet. By containing this traffic within your own PrivateNet, you eliminate this security risk.
• Allows separation of traffic for performance concerns. Databases and certain other applications are very resource-intensive. By separating these processes from your main web site and/or other primary applications, you can greatly increase performance.
• Allows separation of traffic for greater cost efficiency. There is no charge for bandwidth within PrivateNet, but bandwidth between those servers and the public Internet is billable. To determine if PrivateNet will save you money, first estimate what percentage of your monthly bandwidth usage is traffic between your own servers. If you are exchanging a large amount of data between your own servers, PrivateNet will allow you to pay less for bandwidth while giving you greater security and a notable boost in performance.
